=INTRO=

After having finally gotten my cooking to lvl 75, I thought i'd make a little guide to explain how I attained that level, and hopefully help others interested in this craft.

First thing I want to mention is that like with any craft, you will be pouring money into leveling it up. If you have the patience to wait and sell things for a period of time before continueing, then it is possible to use your profits to continue leveling your craft. The higher level you attain, the easier it will be for you to HQ lower capped items and this will help you increase your
profit. Though cooking doesn't yield as large of profits as Goldsmithing or some of the other crafts, the little profits which you can gain quickly do add up and make this craft worthwhile to get into.

So with that, best of luck to all future culinarians!! Remember that you can always experiment, and find out what is best for you. My guide is only meant to help you get started and help you when you need it. I'm sure there might be better methods out there, so be sure to keep an open mind and try whatever you can to see what works best for you.

If you want to become a successful cook, here are a few suggestions to make things easier on you.

1. Make a mule in Bastok, Windurst and San d'Oria. If you can, also have one situated in Jeuno though this isn't necessary. By having mules, you will be able to easily access your regional merchants for ingredients as well as store additional supplies, check AH prices and sell your product faster as each mule can sell the items you make, at the AH in the city they are located in.

2. Save up your earth, water, wind, ice and fire crystals. You will mostly need fire crystals for cooking, however other recipes that help you advance for a lower cost require earth, water, wind and ice crystals.

3. Farm ingredients that you can't obtain from regional merchants. This is quite tedious however if you do not have a decent amount of gil to start up the craft then you can farm most ingredients you would need.

4. ALWAYS buy from the regional merchants whenever possible. Though the guild is convenient and has most ingredients, the prices can change and increase or the items may become unavailable depending on how often
the item you need is purchased. The last place to buy your ingredients will be the AH, and I do not recommend doing this as the majority of your ingredients can be purchased through regional merchants for very little gil.
Ok, so here's how I started my craft, and the recipes I chose to use to level with because either the cost was little compared to other recipes, or they actually produced profit.

Most of the information for recipes and merchant info was taken from the
website http://ffxi.somepage.com and when I first began cooking, the
information I obtained was taken from various guides but I no longer recall
the links to give them the appropriate credit, so rather this is just a
compilation of everything i've found that is useful, and decided to share
with everyone else!
