The Brotherhood Linkshell - Quetzecoal Server (Since June 2005)

Signing Up

The Brotherhood LS is always open to interested players. There are no restrictions, however members are asked to follow some simple rules in order to ensure that the LS is successful and continues to have a positive influence over the members.

Rules
1. Respect all members of TheBrotherhood
This one is pretty basic, and something asked in all linkshells. Be respectful of the other members in the LS. The Brotherhood considers ourselves to be more than a typical social/event LS, we're kind of a "family LS". Try to treat the members with as much respect possible, because if you do so you will be returned that same respect.

2. Mature Content - Please keep to a minimum
Any references made to mature content, such as sexuality, violence and drugs please keep to a minimum. We have to remember that some of our members might be part of a younger age group, and therefore keeping these topics to a minimum would be appropriate. It is also possible to sometimes offend certain members which may have strong views on these subjects, so again if you can keep this to a minimum it will avoid having any members offended.

3. Use of foul language - Please keep to a minimum
Same as "Mature Content". We do tolerate swearing, but not in excessive amounts. If you need to vent out your frustration then this is fine but again, try to keep it to a minimum. Some members can be offended by the use of foul language, and to ensure that everyone feels comfortable within the LS we ask that all members restrict themselves on how often they use certain words.

4. No personal attacks to fellow linkshell mates
If you have an arguement with another LS member, please make sure not to attack them. We will not tolerate degrading our fellow LS members. Though you may not be friends with all members, as a linkshell we must keep a "civil" approach when handling certain situations, such as arguements. If you disagree with something, then state your reasons but do not include personal attacks. Having many members in our LS means that we are bound to encounter certain members that may have very different personalities than our own, but again there is no need to put a LS mate down or attack them.

Any member that is found to go against these guidelines, will be sent a /tell as a warning. Hopefully no further action will need to take place, however if you are found to cause more problems within the LS with the other members then you will run the risk of having your pearl removed.

Expectations

TheBrotherhood was created in the hopes to pass along a message to all FFXI players, which is to help one another. This is why our slogan is "If you need help, just ask!". Our goal is to help people progress in the game, make friends and have fun but at the same time we also hope that we can influence other players to have a helping attitude, after all this game is only a success with the help of others right?

One thing that we do not tolerate in the LS are what you call "moochers". What this means is that if you join our LS for your own personal gain only we would considere this taking advantage of the LS and its members, which is not acceptable. Because we are here a "family like" LS, we try to be there for each other when possible and try to go the extra mile for one another. This means that if you request help, we hope that at some point you will be able to help someone else down the road.

The members of this LS give up their time to help people, and build friendships and so we hope that in return you can do the same and help when the opportunity arises. This does not mean that you are expected to help the very next day, especially if you happen to be new to the game but that you be reminded of the help you were given and pass on that same help to someone else in the future.

Note: You do not need to make TheBrotherhood your main LS, but a more frequent presence will allow the members to know you better and help us develop our friendships with one another.

The purpose of the Brotherhood is to bring together a group of good friends that can help each other progress in the game and share our knowledge about different aspects of the game. In order to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all members, the most important thing is to be respectful and kind to the other members. You should not look at your fellow linkshell mate as "another player" but as a member of YOUR linkshell, because TheBrotherhood is OUR linkshell. Together, we can build a successful LS known for being friendly and helpful, and of course we can all have a lot more fun playing this game.

History of The Brotherhood

The Brotherhood LS started a long time ago, when Xean first started playing the game when the PC version of FFXI had just been released. He had made the LS for himself, his two brothers and his good friend Anderoc to have a way to keep in contact. Sometime after, he left the game and it wasn't he returned with me (Zerayla) that the LS became active again.

When Xean and myself first started this game, we were invited to a little LS that didn't really have any organization but was rather just a LS for friends to keep in touch. Due to certain arguments and member confrontations, that LS was broken.

Xean and myself decided we wanted to make our own LS where it would be focused on helping new players so that they could get help learning how to play the game, and also have help in doing quests and missions that required high lvl help. So Xean took out The Brotherhood LS and we started recruiting any new players that seemed to really just need a friend to help them out. The first pearl was given to a player named Josudes, who has since become a co-leader and helped many players in the LS. From there other members that showed dedication to helping out the newer members of the LS and bringing a lot of positive influence were made sac holders and slowly the community began to flourish.

The Brotherhood LS has been around since June 2005, and continues to grow. All members are welcomed into the LS, and the only request that is made of the members is to be helpful to each other.

Our Goals

The focus of The Brotherhood LS is mostly a quest/mission/event LS, however we are also a very social LS. We put our efforts into recruiting new members, or players that have never had a helpful LS. We then make plans to assist the members with any quests and missions they need to have done, and help them experience a "stress free" environment so that they do not have to deal with hours of shouting in Jeuno for help. Though the The Brotherhood LS does not consist of many lvl 70+ players, we do have a few and when proper scheduling is put into place we manage to get the harder quests (such as AF etc) done for the members.

Ultimately our goal is to allow other players the chance to learn how to play the game, and have an enjoyable experience that will bring them back to play. We also promote friendship in the LS and try our best to bring a very "family" like environment to the members so that everyone can fit in and feel comfortable.

As our LS saying goes, "If you need help just ask!" which never implies that there are strings attached because we will help regardless as long as the members can also have that same attitude when they reach the means to help the other members.

Events

Garrison - Garrison is a fairly new event that we have been organizing and we plan to do this at least once a month. We make schedules and sign ups in our forum so that members can plan ahead and prepare themselves. We believe that organization is one of the biggest reasons we have had success in the past, and so members are required to contact LS leaders or post on the forum when interested in participating. All garrison equipment that is dropped from the garrison runs are split evenly with the members who participate, and often the profits can be 150-300k per member if they participate for all garrison runs (usually 4-6 per event).
**For more details on Garrison, please view "Garrison" listed under FFXI Info

Missions - Missions are usually organized when there are multiple members who need to complete the same mission. The majority of the time Xean and myself will duo missions 1-5 for members, however other members have been known to solo these for members as well. Now that a lot of the members have reached rank 5 or more, we are currently working on helping complete higher missions.

Quests - Quests that are organized in the LS range from subjob quests to artifact armor quests. Avatar prime battles have also been organized in our LS, and we hope to be able to organize more runs to help future summoners attain all their avatars. The majority of the time if a member needs assistance on a quest they can ask questions, or ask for help in the LS, however if the quest itself is a bit more complex then members are asked to request help ahead of time so that a date and time can be setup to complete the quest.

Brenner - Brenner is also a new event that our LS has just begun organizing. We hope to set up a brenner match once every 1-2 weeks that only our LS members will participate in. There will not be any restrictions on job choice. This event is lead by Xean who splits the participants who have signed up into 2 teams. The rewards for this PvP event is gil, as well as a little experience and hopefully a lot of fun!
